Dr. Gordon R. Isbell III was born and raised in Gadsden, AL and has been practicing here since graduation from University of Alabama Dental School in 1981.

Dr. Gordon Isbell was born and raised in Gadsden. He attended the Baylor School in Chattanooga. He was an Eagle Scout and received the God and Country Award. He received his BS degree in Chemistry from Auburn University. He received his DMD degree from the University of Alabama Dental School in 1981. Dr. Isbell is an avid proponent of Continuing Education in dentistry, he received his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 1989 and went on to receive his Masters in the Academy in July, 1996. Dr. Isbell served as President of the Alabama Chapter of the AGD in 1990 and the AGD’s Board of Directors for the state. He is a member of the Alabama Dental Association. He has served as the chairman of the national Group Benefits Council for the AGD. Dr. Isbell is past Regional Director and National Trustee for the AGD for the Alabama, Georgia, and North and South Carolina. Dr. Isbell served as Chairman of the American Dental Association Council on the Dental Practice Nationally. He has served on the National Health Information Infrastructure Task Force for the ADA and on numerous committees and task forces for the profession of dentistry nationally. In June of 2015 he was named distinguished service award winner for Academy of General Dentistry in San Francisco. In July he was voted to the Board of Trustees Alabama Dental Association. Dr. Isbell had a number of speaking engagements in 2016: in January he spoke to the ADPAC Board on Alumni Affairs and in June he spoke to Junior and Senior dental students at the Howard Gamble Memorial Lecture for AGD at the UAB Alumni Association. In March of 2016 he was awarded the Jack Wilson Award from the American Dental Political Action Committee for his years of dedicated service to Political and Legislative Action. He has served on multiple committees, councils and boards in 2016: The Alumni Awards Committee- UAB School of Dentistry, The George Petrie Society- Auburn University, College of Math and Science COSAM Deans Leadership Council- Auburn University (10th year- *Deans Leadership Council- 5 years School of Dentistry UAB, *Research Dental Practice Network- 5 years), All American Society- Auburn University, and the 2016 AGD Professional Relations Committee. Dr. Isbell served as the President Elect of the Alabama Dental Association in 2016, and served as President of the Alabama Dental Association in 2017.
Locally, Dr. Isbell has been a member of the Gadsden Kiwanis Club, Gadsden Quarterback Club, Riverview Regional Medical Center Staff, Gadsden Beautification Board, Chairman of Etowah Co. Key Clubs, Etowah Kidney Foundation Board, and coaches soccer at Gadsden City High School. He also participates in numerous other community service organizations.
